Those oil executives (more like robbers) deserve to be grilled and even more!!!
In the 3rd quarter of this year, oil companies made record profits. Profits like never seen before for a single quarter. Exxon alone made as much as in $9.92 billion profits; IN PROFITS, NOT IN REVENUES!!! HOW THE F^%^!!!

Is that a surprise? I don't think so. I used to fill my tank with about $36 gas before the whole Katrina/Hurricane sagas, but AFTER THAT, I have filled my tank for $52. Why won't they make so much profits. BASTARDS!!!

5 of the oil companies' executives (Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Royal Dutch Shell and BP) appeared before the Senate yesterday and as expected they defended their profits. They claimed there was no price gouging and that the price of energy today was being driven by larger forces out of their control. Ni*^&^, pls! Actually, can't say that cos they are white. :) Of course, there was price gouging. If there wasn't any gouging, why would they have made so much revenue/profits? These greedy folks used the disasters and so-called oil refinery damages as an excuse to raise oil and energy prices. They raised their prices while their cost of drilling, processing and sales remained the same. That's the only way they could have made so much profits. HIGH CONSUMER PRICES WITH SAME COST OF GOODS SOLD = HIGHER PROFITS. I don't know much about economics et al but that is simple math. If their cost had increased as they claimed, then raising gas prices would not given them as much profits as they had.

The greed of these corporate executives has always been mystifying to me. In NC, the price of heating oil will increase by at least 11% this winter and in some other parts of the countries, it is expected to rise up at least by 50%. And guess what this cost of energy is already trickling down to the cost of everything else because energy basically drives the cost of manufacturing, thus the cost of goods sold and thus consumer prices - INFLATION. All, without consumers having pay increase at work!!!

It will make sense if the increase was justified by increase in cost of producing these oil and energy. Apparently, the increase is not needed; if it was truly needed, increasing the price of oil and energy would not have necessarily led to the huge profits made by these f&*&^*&* oil companies. They really have no hearts at all. They lay off employees without thinking (while increasing their own personal earnings) and they rip off consumers without hesitating. Now, they are not only ripping off consumers, which you can do without necessarily raising inflation, they are raising inflation and affecting the livelihoods of many for no good cause.

I can't even describe how much I despise and abhor some of these CEOs. They disgust my guts and make me puke!
You know the only difference between the oil executives and Anini (notorious armed robber that terrorized Nigeria in the 80s or 90s - don't remember clearly) - Anini had guns.

Oil executives, I hope you all have some remorse and spend some of these profits in helping consumers OR burn in hell. AXXHOLES, like my friend says.

Couldn't agree with you more. Remember President Bush's family and friends are in the oil business. So while we are breaking our neck trying to work so we can pay for the gas to get to work, he and his good ol boys club are sitting back drinking Jack Daniels, enjoying their accomplishment of dicking the entire country. Oh I love this place! People do whatever the hell they want AND get away with it. Its hilarious really.

    OLE!
I am sweating seriously cause my gas bill is due very very soon.
Its really sad and painful to see all these things. But that is the way the world goes.

Laying off workers, well i was in nigeria when shell where doing their "re-organisation" and i tell you it was such a sad sight. People having heart attacks, people's lively hoods taken from them. Anyway you know what there is something called Karma

Don't be a sheep, sure I agree with you they are gauging us but do you expect them to do othewise? If they didn't theyd get fired for mismanaging the company. Supply and demand, if people are too much like sheep to stop using oil when the prices go up, the prices will keep going up, nothing the oil companies can do about it. If you take economics and look at a supply/demand curve for a relatively inelastic supply you will see what I mean.

All I am saying is its not their fault, thats their buiness. Any business will charge as much as they can under the circumstances. If you don't like it and really want to screw them over.. guess what, YOU CAN! JUST USE ALTERNATIVES! Electric, fuel cell whatever. If fuel cells are not availiable to you, bitch to your goverment that is publicly doing theatrics with the oil industry but supporting them otherwise. If teh senators wanted to do something about oil prices they can - give incentives for people to swithc away from oil dependancy. I already know ppl that drive electric cars so don't give me the its not available shit.. and you can always go half-assed like a prius.

I know. Bush and his comrades making all the money. How come the prices increased this much during their regime? Hmmph! I guess we all know why.

    to nneka:
I feel you, but that karma thing is scary o. :)

    to annonymous2:
I know the market determines a lot of things, but these oil companies had their selfish roles to play in the current prices. That's all I am saying. And how many people can afford those cars? They are more expensive than their regular counterparts. I would love to get one myself but hey...
