Apple just got One!
|
It's been years since I got into the computer thing, but I have never been an apple. I have always seen anything Apple as too expensive and was just not needed especially based on the fact that it has less audience due to its proprietary nature. With the new iMac G5, my story has changed. I will be getting my own Apple toys in the days to come for sure. The iMac's unmatchable portability and its entertainment enthrall me. Check these out:
- Snap pictures with Photo Booth and the built-in iSight camera - Click, roll, squeeze and scroll with the included Mighty Mouse - Hold a video chat with the built-in iSight camera - Get the big picture with a widescreen flat-panel display - Play fast with PCI-E ATI Radeon X600 Pro or XT graphics - Burn DVDs or CDs with the 8x SuperDrive - Banish clutter with built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking - Go cable-free with Bluetooth for a wireless keyboard and mouse - Capture video from DV camcorders or add external hard drives via two FireWire 400 ports - Connect printers and peripherals with three USB 2.0 ports - Mirror video to your TV, display or projector with mini-VGA(2) - Connect to a Windows network - Organize and share music, movies and photos with iLife
This system takes up the space of a monitor, which has always been the case, but this time around, it contains a powerful 1.9 or 1.2 GHz G5 processor, an incredible PCI Express ATI Radeon X600 Pro or XT graphics processor with 128MB DEDICATED video memory, an 8X DVD/CD Burner, built-in AirPort Extreme Card for wireless networking (or you can add an AirPort Express with AirTunes to stream music to your stereo and send documents to your printer), internal Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) for the wireless device, a built-in iSight camera (no need for the camera wires and crap) among other devices and features. All these in the usual monitor-space iMac and combined with the best and easiest-to-use PC Operating System for now, Mac OS X 10.4? Wow!
These are features I have always dreamt of having in a home media entertainment setup especially with Apple Remote that lets you gather families and browse through videos, audios, pics and any other digital media after connecting the system to other digital devices such as a stereo, a plasma TV with a DVI connector (or HDMI with an adapter) among others. It is also available in 2 different monitor sizes making it even more attractive to me. It has its shortcomings (lack of ability to record live TV nad function as a DVR among others), but with all the other features, its sleekness and its price, it meets almost all the demands I have thought of in a home media center system.
The system is a BEAST not only in sheep clothing but with a sheep size. Apple, you rock and you just got one new customer, Steve Jobs. I can't wait to get one and also the new video-capable iPod too!
