Work Halloween Party!
Just came back from my job's Halloween lunch party. I actually made the final 2 out of almost 10 contenders. Not bad. Especially after almost punking out as I was about to be called to walk into the cafeteria. There were quite a number of creative ones - Blue Man Group, Dr Seuss and his crew, Napoleon Dynamite (my team lead. : ) he was hilarious. had the boots and all) among many others. Men, Americans!!! Se na Naija person wey never chop since 2 days ago go get time for costume? I beg e! Actually, I would have made the 1st but I came out too shy. I was actually called the Shy Pirate when I was reintroduced for the crowd to clap. It was fun, though. Next year is another year. Hell no! I won't be caught in a costume again! Did my part this year. Actually, maybe I will. : )

I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and couldn't help but burst into laughter. This will be a day to always remember. :) They better give me a gift or else I will postal them. :) Just kidding, peoples! Anywayz, we'll see how the day goes.

Funkified (Abbreviated or Americanized) Nigerian names!

I have always wondered how Bob has anything to do with Robert or Bill, anything to do with William. In the Western world (especially in US), abbreviating your name is a normalcy and people almost do anything to make up an abbreviated form of their own names. It's so deeply embedded in the society to the point that sometimes, when I introduce myself as Dare, some people say, "Can I call you D?" I'm like, for God's sake, morrasucker (like Micahel Blackson says), it's just 4 letters. For we Nigerians, help has finally arrived. A good friend of mine sent me an article about Nigerian names being funkified through abbreviations. It's hilarious. Here are some examples:

Oladele - Dale. (Pls, Dale ko, Dali ni)
Uchenna-----Cheney (What?)
Garba----------Gary (Orisirisi!)
Ngozi-------------------------Goslet (What does that have to do with omo Ibo!)
Anywayz, here is the article:

Laugh a little! : )

When will Nigeria grow up?

I saw this article on the site of a local news station here in NC. The article (http://www.wral.com/news/5164878/detail.html) talks about Nigeria seeking help in finding the cause of the Bellview plane crash from the United States. Let me guess, the cash that should have been used in setting up such a body as part of our so-called FAAN (or whatever they call it) is in some private Eurpean bank accounts. I really hope that Nigeria will grow up someday and have a basic set of much-needed amenities and infrastructure.
