A woman of great courage!
|
This is one woman I immeasurably admire. I love her like mad. She was a rock behind her husband - something I admire so much in women, women that are definitely not subservient yet stand behind their husbands like a rock. I can't really put it in words. She was not in the background. She was there in the forefront but somehow did not let her relationship and love for Dr King get relegated to the background. I loved her focus and humilty in spite of all. She had a lot of qualities that I pray for in a wife, straight up!
Even when he died, she turned the death of her husband to a great legacy of freedom fighting. She never gave up on Dr. King's dream of black freedom . She continued his legacy fighting for all kinds of human rights - civil, women, health care, children, poor people, name it. She even fought against apartheid in South Africa and all. I love her and I am sure she's in heaven. Like we say in Nyja after the French, Adieu, Mrs King!!!

Behavioral Interview questions and non-traditional >100k jobs!
|
Just surfing the net and saw this article about behavioral interview questions. I think it's worth reading for anybody. It has questions such as:
- Tell me about a time when you felt it was you against everyone else. You thought you were right and that everyone else was wrong. What did you do?
- Tell me about a time when you failed. What happened, and how did you recover?
- etc
Here is it: Interview questions
And here is another interesting article that exposes the non-traditional jobs that pay 6-figure income out there. Some of the jobs were jobs that I had no idea paid that well. Air traffic controller? Government job that pays 6-figure income?
Non-traditional 6-figure income jobs
You never know, the info might come useful.

Where are the black people in Austin?
|
I have been here in Austin since Monday and I got to ask, WTF are the black people here? Apart from the people that I hooked up with on getting here, I can count the number of black people that I have met since I came here with my 2 hands. Do they even have black people residing here in Austin at all. I mean the what the hell. Still got about 3 more days. We'll see.

What's up, Condom?
|
I am at this seminar that I feel like I have no reason to be per say - I am a developer and all these people are testers talking all these testing stuff. So, I am sort of bored. Just thought I should put up my latest IM moniker for the week:
GOOD FRIENDS ARE LIKE CONDOMS. THEY PROTECT YOU WHEN "THINGS" ARE HARD. YOU ARE MY CONDOM. Lol!
I got this from a friend and I almost died laughing. It's funny but the analogy is perfect, 4 real.

Very Prettie Ladies and NASATALL!
|
I was at a club sometime ago with some friends and we noticed this finnneee chick sitting down at the bar with 2 other friends. Almost every guy at the place was looking at her and trying to talk to her. It was quite a sight. This girl was fine and guess what, she fucking knew she was fine. That's not too common for a lot of ladies - they are fine but they don't realize how fine they are due to self-esteem issues. But she most definitely knew in her own case. Anywayz, my friends that I was with took a bet that if she got up, we would see that she has no ass(but). She was too fine to have an ass and teeries we concluded. We sha waited for a while before she finally got up to hug a guy. Guess what? As expected, she had that disease - NASATALL - no ass at all.
We were like what's up with very fine girls and the nasatall disease. And that's true, I have noticed that many like really really really fine girls, I mean FIIIIINNNNNEEEE girls have no ass and teries. Wassup with that. I mean you see a fine girl and you are like Damn, that is one beautiful beautiful woman, but you come close to her and you finally look at her and you are like, what the hell happenned to her ass. Damn! She must have had it amputated or something. I mean, what the crap! This is not universal, but I have noticed this to be often true for a lot of very very fine girls - no ass, no omu at all (or sometimes they do have omu, but the no ass part is usually true).
I have nothing against this cos I don't care about ass. Actually, all of a sudden, I think I am beginning to. Hmmhm, may be not. I don't know. But really, I care more about those nice-shaped breastesses (not necessarily size) :) than ass by far.
I guess the whole thing has to do with the theory that God cannot give you everything. You get only one - COMPLETE BEAUTY or COMPLETE BODY!! Choose one! lol! Just messing around.

Bye-Bye to the Negro Channel!
|
UPN and WB will be closing down in the fall to become one station. The station will be called CW (a combination of C from CBS, the parent company of UPN and W from Time Warner, the parent company of WB.
It's so sad to say goodbye to UPN, the only channel where black folks can enjoy a good number of black shows - Girlfriends, All Of Us, Everybody Hates Chris, One on One, etc. I just wonder what will happen to Girlfriends - a lot of black chicks will be mad at that one if it disappears. Damn! That's one show that most black women cannot miss for shit. As a guy, just don't get horny around the time that show comes on on Monday or is it Tuesday nights cos you definitely won't get shit. Thank Goodness, at least, now, a guy knows he can have some at that time.
But seriously, I just wonder what will happen to all those black shows and even all the Smallville, Buffy and all on WB too (which ones will go and which ones will stay). We'll see....

Rolling with the NCAA champs, LongHorns, in Austin!
|
Just arrived in Austin, TX, yesternight for some work seminar! The roads here look like a maze - so difficult to get around because of the convoluted roads. There is a bridge over every part of the city. What the hell? I got lost so many times yesternight, it didn't make any sense. They don't have the signs telling you the name of the current street you are on at each intersection. Who does that? It's definitely not a North Carolina city.
My seminar finishes on Thursday but I chose to stay here till Sunday hoping to explore the city before I leave. The worse part is I don't know anybody here yet. I just got 3 numbers from some friends and I am hoping at least one of them will take me around. This is waht happens when you don't keep in touch with people. I am paying for it the hard way now.
We will see how it goes for the one week I will be here.

Single mothers in Nigeria and "churchavanting"
|
As I was writing a comment at a friend's blog earlier this morning, saying abe abo just reminded me of my Cele church days and the plight of single mothers and churchavanting (church+gallivanting like my friend called it) in Nigeria. At the age of 3 in October 1981, my dad gave my mom (with me, my younger brother and sister, who was 6 months old and 2 of my mom's cousins that lived with them) an ultimatum to leave the house before he came back from work. How cold! Nyja men and their fucking heartlessness!!! How do you tell a woman to leave the house you both built together before you come back with 3 of your kids (the youngest being 6 mths old)? Damn! No one wonder I forgot to buy him one thing when I sent a luggage of goodies to my family last December. I felt bad, but come to think of it, now I know why I forgot. Let me forget about that for now!
Anyway, after that we moved into my grandmother's one room and parlor (if you know what I mean) in Oshodi, right next to the main garage at Oshodi. It was terrible. That place was a GHETTTTO! Ok. I'm digressing again!
Omo, since then, I remember us going from church to church for various reasons. My mom (with my siblings and I) must have been to every church in Nyja. Name it, there was no church we did not go to. Kerubu and Serafu ni o, Cele church ni o, CAC ni o, Agbala Itura ni o, Aladura ni o, just name it. All the white garment churches and more that existed in Nyja. Everyone of them. I guess it was all in a bid to seek help to get my dad's mind back to normal cos I got to say that that man must have been mad cos his actions were just mind blowing. He had to be on some African science (Voodoo), my mom and her family (actually even some of his own family too thought the same apart from his sorry ass mom - I ended up liking her before she died though. God bless her soul) thought. And also to make sure we were safe from any possible African science-based harm, I perceieved. Nyja seffu!!! We went under ABE ABO, we did the IWE ODO SISAN (river bath). The HOLY WATER! The IDA MICHEALI thing. The ORORO MIMO. We did it all.
It's interesting to see that almost everyone of my friends that grew up with their mothers after their dads went crazy and married another bastard junior wife (I don't know how you marry a married man, don't you realize that another woman will do the same to you?), went through the same. Their moms, as single moms, took them to every church that you can think of in Nyja especially the white garment churches. Most of them remember going to several churches with their mom growing up. In fact some of them (the kids and the moms) were even WO-LEADERS and ELEMI 4 CORNER! LOL! ;) It just really tells me how much single mothers go through a whole lot in Nyja. It's just really saddening and I really commend them. All their moms lived for was them (the kids) and they did whatever it took to make sure they were fine and they were safe from their worst fears - African science. At least, that's one reason, apart from many others, that I think most single mothers in Nyja go (and went) from church to church. My prayer is always that their travails for us will not be in vain and that those sorry ass dads and polygamous men will rot in hell. Ok maybe not the hell part! And most of all, that I and many such sons like me, will never ever be like them by God's special grace.

Best show ever!!! Forever ever!
|
I waited almost 300 days for the 5th season of 24 and I have to say that just like always, I was immeasurably far from being disappointed.
That show's pace is incredibly intense and invigorating. It was exciting watching a friend of mine sit down and watch the show with so much anxiety. You would have thought she had something in her ass that kept her vibrating in her seat. I don't think an orgasm would have given her such reaction sef. And I can't blame her. In less than the 10 minutes into the season, some of the show's favorites, President Palmer and Michelle Almeda (nee Drexler) were killed while Tony was injured severely. Wow! If it was any other show I would have been pissed, but it's 24. Anything is possible. And my dear rude ass genius, Chloe ,was banging. Actually, not just banging, she was chiking a colleague under her. Damn! That was very unexpected, but a genius got to have some too. Everyone needs it! I just wish they showed the real action though. :) Jack Bauer was back in action in the first hour. That guy makes me want to become a govt agent. Fuck!!! He makes kicking ass so cool. Damn! No one does it like him. I got to tell you, though, Jack is a super hero with no wings or something. He just can't and won't die. He beat the secret service with the help of recalcitrant Chloe to get into the murder scene of President Palmer. He escapes that and ends up in a hostage crisis at the airport. Finally, somehow, he ends up saving the day as usual but not without the help of Frodo's boy in Lord of the Rings - Sam. Initially, Sam seems to be a pain in the ass of CTU's head, but I ended up liking him at the end of the day. I wonder who the mole is in CTU.
One thing I just love about this show is how they come up with stories, give you loose ends to wonder about, then give you the answers to the loose ends and immediately come up with more stories with loose ends for you to try to figure out. I love the writers of this show!!! Their creativity astounds me! Damn!!! They always come up with the right stuff. They give you everything you need in a show - intrigue, unstoppable suspense, drama, action, romance, special effects (maybe not really, but kind of sort of), comedy, etc. And the show gives you all these from hour 1 to hour 24 nonstop. I want to join the writing crew! Dammit!! Anyone that does not watch this show is missing out from the best show on TV ever. There is no better show than this show. There never has and there never will be. PERIOD!!!
One more thing, is it me or are Martha Logans' breasts (President Logan's wife) too great for her age. Those twins just don't match her age. Damn! Those breasts are better than the breasts on a lot of women quarter of her age. Huuhhh!!! I love those thangs! Just thinking!

Idol Twins Arrested!
|
The Brittenum twins (the 2 older black twins on American idol premiere on Tuesday, not the Kanye West look-alikes) will be lounging in jail while their fellow contestants are competing this season. Apparently, they had a warrant out for them due to charges of identity fraud. They used someone else's identity to buy a car last year in GA. I don't know how people have guts to do that crap. This is America. It always catches up on you (the Kennedys cousin's murder trial and conviction after 25 yrs confirmed that for me). Always!!! Both of them were charged with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud over the purchase of a 2005 Dodge Magnum last June. One of them has turned himself in and the other is yet to do so.
Dammit!!! Those guys were good. They really held it down and were blowing big time. They definitely looked like they were going to be contestants to reckon with on the show. It just makes me sad to see such great talents go to pure waste. DAMN!!! WHYYYYY???
They will be "blowing" for sure though, in jail.

American Idol Premiere - What were they thinking!
|
I saw the premiere of American Idol last night and I got to say that that show was more hilarious than a lot of comedies that I have seen in recent years. What the hell? Why do these grannies and parents like to lie to their kids? WHYYYY? If your child or grand-child can't sing you will know and why fucking lie to the kid. It's just wrong. That was the case of the guy (I think he was 17 or something like that) who came and I wasn't sure if he was a male or female. That guy voice was not just pure torture, it was evil. WHAT? Na wa for these family members that lie to you! Then there was the Derek guy that was given a 2nd chance. I missed his 1st chance but judging by his so-called 2nd chance performance, I really have no clue why they even gave him a 2nd chance in the first place. Poor guy! They just wanted to ridicule the loser. He actually made me think that I was at the cemetry listening to the song before the dead is buried. I hate American idol for that! The sheriff guy? Let's not talk about that guy. I have no idea what he was thinking. That guy definitely shot his boss - the sheriff - and should be arrested. He couldn't even carry a tune. He battered that song and they gave him time to do so too. lol! That was wrong, American idol! That guy actually made me feel like a crooner and I can't sing well enough to even make a hobo listen to me for money. What the hell? How the fuck do these people think they can sing. That's what I want to know. They better be there for the show, like I think they are. Especially the harshly sun-tanned Crystal. She actually looked a badly tanned look-alike of Paris Hilton. She's not blond, blond, per say, but she's close, so I will say she's blond. She made all the dumb blond jokes I have heard true. She sounded so fucking daft!!! WTF? And her mom stood there BI ERE TAFAWA BALEWA NINU ASHO ASHEWO! Like mother, like daughter!! That girl couldn't sing for shit! Same thing with the one that was cussing out everybody and ended up crying outside like a looney that she was. Another memorable one to me was the Ukranian chick. Omolomo! She was hoping for a performance visa. Omase o! False fucking hope!!! She was drop dead SEXY and I would do her any day any time but she better not attempt to sing while we're doing the hanky panky cos she might make long john go down with that voice. What was she thinking! Get a visa for that voice??? Meeeehn...., these people sef. Can people just learn to have hope on real stuff? It's like me going to American idol. That's not my line and I know that and I will just sit my butt at home. Somebody has to be lying to these people cos it's just ridiculous!
But it was not that bad throughout the night though. The Barrelsmith (hope I got it right) sisters from Chicago. the ones in the largest corn maze. They were great! The older one's voice actually reminded me of Whitney for a second. They really blew! Then the "Kanye West" twins - that's what I call them. Those guys were blowing too! And they're just 16! They are definitely going places for shizee!! :) I was like why the fuck can't i sing like these guys and serenade chicks too. DAMN IT!!! That's why my kids will sing by force whether they like it or not. lol. BO FE, BO KO! The 28-yr old Bitnam twins rocked the house too. Great guys. But my best was Mandissa. Simon dissed her after she left, but she was GOOOD! What's up with big people and their voices. They always seem to have great voices - Sopranos in most cases. I heard her sing and I thought to myself, damn! I got to get me a big girl as a wife. That way, she can be blowing always, live and direct. I can just imagine that kind of girl using that voice at the right climactic time, if you know what I mean.
The most puzzling case of the night though was the 28-yr old David Hoover. How the hell did that guy make it. That guy was just super hyper. What was he on? Some ecstacy mixed with Meth? Actually, more like what was Paula and Randy on? How did they say yes to that guy. They must have sipped on some hard core ogogoro just before that guy came in. Geez!!!

3 main business units in IBM. Smart idea?
|
In the 4th quarter of 2005, IBM earned $3.19 billion, or $1.99 per share, on revenue of $24.4 billion, beating analysts estimate. This was without the adjustment of $267 million as a result of the company's decision to freeze its pension plans in 2008, a measure that has caused a lot of grumblings and possibly outcries in the future.
The worrisome part to me about the earnings was that the services revenue in the priod was $12 billion, down 5% from a year earlier. IBM in recent years decided to focus on systems, software and services, selling all its other business units - personal computing division being the latest. The problem with this new model is that over 50% of its revenue is from the services unit. This has made the company the #1 computer services company in the world, but what happens if services revenue declines? The company has a problem!
The realignment of its focus in few businesses was and is a smart idea in a way, but at the same time having 1 out of your 3 main business units producing over 50% of your revenue raises a lot of questions. If I was an investor in the company, I would be quite worried. But maybe I wouldn't. It's IBM, they've weathered innumerable storms in almost a century and that's why I have a great admiration for the behemoth.
However, I hope the company finds a way to create a revenue balance among its business units.

No TV, More sex!!!
|
I read about this study in Italy that said that couples that have TV in their rooms have sex about 4x a week and those without TV in their rooms have sex 8X a week. They just have to blame TV for something! Geez! I guess as a couple if you want more sex, sell that TV in your room. For me o, both sides of the study are undesirable. What the hell? Sex just 4X a week? or 8X a week? Damn! What happenned to 4X a day! I really hope marriage doesn't necessarily turn one to this. Couples need to do make up a better excuse than TV for lack of regular sex. All these trivial studies sef!!!
Anywayz, the TV-in-the-room thing means that my African ancestors must have had "a lot of sex" - they didn't have a TV.

Another smart move for Google!
|
Google is making what I consider a smart move by buying DMarc advertising for as much as $1.24 Billion. Whew!! These guys men!!! From the lowly days to buying other companies for billions of dollars. Na wa o! One day sha!
This is definitely a great idea to me cos it will help them break into the traditional media - radio - diversifying their biz and possibly preparing for any possible fall in the tech/advertising industry, which is unlikely. But at least, they are positioning themselves right and will most likely improve their value. I think it's a move that will definitely pay in the long run. I just don't like companies focusing on only one type of biz. Anything could happen!
I just look forward to how they will be applying their internet-oriented ad technology -AdWords - to radio.

For now, just want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and I wish you all the best and much much more in this new year. For a strange reason, I am extremely confident that this year will be a very great year for me. Why? I don't know, but I just know.
